Green Building Design + Net Zero Energy Construction are great techniques for creating dwellings with healthier interior environmentsand to reduce the carbon footprint of our homes.

Green Building is a holistic approach to architectural design and construction. These Green Buildings along with being extremely efficient; are stunning and beautifully designed.

Green building starts with passive solar design which uses
straw bale structures or prefabricated buildings, along with photovoltaic
systems or wind turbines to lower the carbon footprint.

Passive solar design analyzes the project site to find the
best orientation for the building and the windows with reference to the path of
the sun on the site. This positioning of the building allows the sunlight to
come into the windows in the winter months to warm the house, and shades the window in the summer months to keep the home cooler during that time of year.

The goal of Green Building Design is to create Net Positive Energy from the structure and its systems. Typical buildings use more than half of the electricity production and create nearly 60% of the CO2 that is emitted into
the atmosphere. By using passive solar design, solar power, wind power and geothermal heat pumps we can greatly reduce the amount of carbon emission created by typical buildings.

Homeowners, builders and designers, by using sustainable and or recycled building materials, can create healthier interior environments while using less energy and resources. There are many architects that have been designing green buildings to help lighten our carbon footprint and use fewer resources. In our outreach, we have gotten to know quite a few of these awesome
designers.
